It is with great sadness that SSBTR has learnt of the recent passing of Mrs Joanna Masson. Joanna was very well known stalwart in the world of staffie rescue and was an inspiration to us all in her tireless efforts to rescue them. In 1972 she opened a branch of staffie rescue in Glasgow. She was joined in 1973 by her good friend our own Kay Carmichael (now the dowager Duchess of Hamilton) who started the Aberdeen branch of the rescue. A formidable woman who did not suffer fools gladly, she spent much of her life fighting for her beloved breed.
Tonight a light has gone out in the world of staffie rescue, but in its place a shining star has arrived at rainbow bridge to welcome and guide her beloved Staffordshire Bull Terriers on their way home.
Rest in peace Joanna, SSBTR and the staffies salute you.
The Scottish Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue is an entirely voluntary organisation. We are totally dependant on donations and fundraising efforts. To this end we are always very grateful for any donation you can afford, however small it may seem to you. We also organise fundraisers every year - see our Events page. These events are always lots of fun and we guarantee that at the dog show there is a class for EVERY dog whether pooch, Pedigree or three-legged mutt.
